My Writing...Seven Weeks Later

Over the length of this course I honed in on a lot of things I thought I could accomplish with my writing but never perfected. Through experiencing the different writing styles found within mass communication I learned to write more concisely and deliver my message more completely.

I initially had a rocky relationship with APA style....I was upset when I forgot simple rules that may not have seemed so important at the time, but in my final copies made my writing seem more professional and clear. I was disappointed with my first few assignments...but with a few encouraging words from my professor and leaving my writing comfort zone I was able to see a completely different side of my writing. I learned that less can be more. It is harder to condense a piece to a few words but still make a complete point then to create a long winded story that really just takes up space.

Over all I feel that after taking the class I am more prepared when asked to write for something within my field of study.

ANHEUSER BUSCH CLYDESDALES TO VISIT CEDAR POINT

On Friday, June 12th, at 2 pm the famous Anheuser Busch Clydesdales will be making an appearance in a parade held at the Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. The famous team of horses will be pulling a beautifully restored to its original appearance, turn of the century beer wagon. The team of horses represent America as a historic icon. The Clydesdales will be on display by the Wicked Twister roller coaster from 1:30 pm to 2 pm and then again from 2:30 pm to 3 pm.

Usually displayed in commercials, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Super Bowl, and other various events the team will make a live debut at the park. The Clydesdale horses were originally given as a gift to August Busch Sr. from his son, August Busch Jr. to celebrate the end of prohibition and the sale of their first beers in St. Louis, MO. Under the pretense of going outside to see his son's new car, August Busch Jr. brought his father outside to see not a new car but the majestic original team of Clydesdales. So what does it take to be a Clydesdale? Each horse must be six feet tall and weigh 2300 pounds, in addition to the collar and harness for each horse which weighs 130 pounds alone. Anheuser Busch owns five teams of ten of these massive creatures. Only eight horses are hitched up at one time. A Clydesdale horse will consume 25 quarts of feed per day, 60 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water on its own.
